The board is expected to consider the proposal during a workshop Wednesday, as well as a report by the City Attorney’s Office on some preliminary matters in the measure.

Airbnb — which lists homes as short-term rentals — has come under fire from city officials and tenants advocates in recent months for its ability to control housing market prices and its handling of complaints.
The proposed measure would ban short-term rentals of “at least 30 days, and no more than 90 days” in each calendar year. It would also require short-term renters to provide a “complete list of residents” for each property listed.
“We certainly have concerns with the rent control ordinance,” Sinclair said. “We would like to see these short-term rentals taken out of the mix.”
The short-term rental measure is similar to a proposal that is already before the board, which requires long-term residents to provide a “complete and accurate” listing of their properties when they wish to rent them out.
Critics say the proposed short-term rentals measure may violate anti-discrimination laws by favoring the current landlords.
The measure, known as Ordinance 1455, was introduced by Supervisor David Campos and approved by the board in September.
Campos’ proposal, along with Mayor London Breed’s Rent and Rehabilitation Ordinance, have been met with criticism by tenants rights groups for their strict limit on how much tenants can charge for rent.
