Sludge Process Reduction-Activated Sludge (SPRAS) technology, as a creative and revolutionary sludge reduction approach, is achieved by optimizing process parameters and special control of microbial eco-physiological characteristics. The organic waste sludge reduction rate can reach up to 95%. The technology reduces waste organic sludge at the source and prevents secondary pollution arising from sludge landfills, sludge incineration, or sludge drying.

The biochemical effect is improved while the operation control of the system is flexible and stable, obtaining a high-quality effluent. The system consists of 4 main parts: bio-selection tank, anoxic tank, aerobic tank, and a final sedimentation tank.

It is estimated that the sludge’s age in the system can reach more than 600 days. Under such a long age, the sludge produced by the system will be re-metabolized and degraded by the microorganisms after hydrolysis and reach a dynamic balance between production and digestion. Mud production is greatly reduced.

The pre-design units capacity ranges from 65 GPD  (0.25m³/day) to 5.2 MGD (20,000m³/day); In addition, the equipment capacity can be expanded by 20,000 m³per unit.

The land occupied is only about 1/5 – 1/3 of the conventional technology, offering also a beneficial small footprint.

Less sludge production. Sludge production is only about 15%-20% of the conventional process sludge production.
