VirtualBox Image Windows XP SP3 Download Pc
when you attempt to start the windows xp image, you get the following error message:
failed to open a session for the virtual machine windows xp (32 bit)
not in a hypervisor partition (hvp=0) (verr_nem_not_available).
i would like to know if this is a known issue with the windows xp image or if it is more likely to be a hardware issue. i have tried the following changes with no success:
1) make sure the computer bios is set to ide compatible mode instead of ahci mode.
2) delete the virtualbox.ini file in the virtualbox folder.
3) disable the usb controller in the bios. i have tried disabling the legacy usb controller and the legacy usb controller + usb controller (i believe this is what is called the advanced usb controller in the bios).
here are the microsoft kb981481 and microsoft kb928506 links i have looked at to resolve the issue. i have also looked into ibm’s virtualbox tips & troubleshooting guide but it is way to technical for me to understand. i am more of a windows user and the only reason i am using virtualbox is to run linux or windows xp sp3, so i am looking for solutions more geared towards that. any ideas on the issue would be greatly appreciated!
