According to Rutter, the inclusion of HyperMotion means that it’s easier than ever to create authentic gameplay when using data from a real match. The team at EA SPORTS had to create the post process, motion tracking, AI and animation to allow the sim to emulate the movements of real players, and needed a good understanding of the match in order to do it.

“When we were starting to develop FIFA 22, we wanted to do something that really changed the sport of football,” said David Rutter, Creative Director at EA SPORTS. “We wanted to create moments that you would only see in real life. With HyperMotion, we are now able to do that. We needed to be able to control player movements and player behaviour.
