iZBOT is a platform game that resembles that of Super Mario Bros, but with a bit of a twist. Rather than jumping on the ground, the player must grapple onto an i-Zapper to beam him/herself up to the top of a tower, at which point they have to gain momentum by moving left and right.
While the movement controls are easy to grasp, the challenges come in the form of the i-Zapper’s limit of three starts per level. The i-Zapper drops and fires you off in a non-linear order, requiring you to plan ahead and have multiple routes worked out before each level.
The game itself also has two gameplay modes: ‘Capture The Flag’ and ‘Race to the Tower’. ‘Capture the Flag’ requires the player to gain enough momentum by shooting the other player, reaching the towers to capture them. In this game, both teams will shoot up the towers, which awards points to the team that captured the most towers. In ‘Race to the Tower’, the object is to get to the other tower first.
The i-Zapper (i.e. the character; an animal, for example) is a poor choice for a main character. His height is limited to a maximum of four inches, and he cannot jump, although he can grab on to objects and ground to gain more momentum, which seems just as bad. The i-Zapper has a limited supply of power pellets, which he uses to fire projectiles and move, and it’s up to the player to fire before the projectile is consumed.
The problem is that there’s no indication as to when the power pellets will be depleted, and you have no way of knowing when the next will be replenished. It’s a puzzle as to when the i-Zapper will be able to fire again, and this is most certainly one of the most frustrating gameplay mechanics that I’ve come across.
The repetitive nature of the i-Zapper also leads to the game being very short, requiring the player to get as much momentum as possible to survive a single match, only to get eaten by the i-Zapper seconds later. The concept behind the i-Zapper certainly makes for a fun game, but the implementation leaves a lot to be desired.4.5 Arrowhead Studios

Even though the game is incredibly versatile, it really wants you to be able to find content, embrace the idea of the game and its limitations and have fun. And if not, just start over.
And exploring the entirety of space would be a waste of your time in the end. You would simply be collecting resources and not be, I dunno, actually exploring.
With the most recent version of the game, you have to rely on a small number of objects for your build. Everything else being a part of structure is mere decoration.

But yeah you are correct. For me exploration is just that. Exploration. Exploring. Destination stuff. In essence it is a puzzle. If you think about it, it is a game that can be played just fine in your living room and end up being some hours of fun.
