Elden Ring: Dissidia was undoubtedly at the forefront of what a traditional role-playing game can look like with its visual implementation of an older system and a rather interesting take on its genre. Furthermore, despite its limited content and gameplay, it’s still the most enjoyable platforming and turn-based RPG experience in the west. And it’s even better with friends.

Gameplay: While the single-player experience won’t blow you away, Dissidia: Final Fantasy is a worthy successor to Final Fantasy X – which was a masterpiece in its own right. The Dissidia series’ gameplay tweaks are welcome, mainly allowing for more direct and intuitive controls. The action combat is still a blast to engage in, especially with the ability to deploy spells and skills during battle. The main quests are quite good as well, and the additional content (such as certain side quests and characters) is more abundant than in the original Final Fantasy. We even got the summon!

Graphics: The Dissidia series still excels when it comes to amazing graphics, despite some rather questionable design choices. As awesome as the sprites, the UI and graphics are, the environments are often not particularly interesting. While it is fairly colorful, it lacks an overall aesthetic design, which is quite unfortunate.

Music: It was a bit jarring at first to hear everything pass by at such a speedy pace when you’re navigating the field, but the gameplay felt significantly better, so it didn’t bother me too much. The remixed remixes of the Final Fantasy X soundtrack are quite catchy, and the game’s other tunes are listenable, although some sound a little repetitive.

Online: With four-player co-op and two-player vs. two-player online, Dissidia: Final Fantasy — while not quite on par with the New Game Plus modes in other games — does a decent job when it comes to offline versus online play. The longer the game, the less enjoyable the experience becomes, so I don’t recommend playing it for more than an hour at a time.

Story: A story about titans and headless soldiers, it’s still not exactly telling a cohesive and satisfying narrative. Although there are many open-world RPG elements present, the main narrative is linear. It makes sense, but in the current state, it feels too old-fashioned, especially since

• Movement:

If an item is equipped, it will be on the left or right shoulder of your main character.
