I personally had the pleasure to make friends with his brother, Stu, who I would describe as a real good guitar player, guitar instructor, and good band leader. Stu kept a bit of the “pedalboard” of the late Jim Elliot of Alaska. I would not be surprised if all of these things and more he pulled together together a very pedalboard, with maybe a snding, and a reverb chamber set-up, from the good smell he get from Jim Elliot. I am not sure if any of those of you from Alaska are aware of the kind of life he lived, from his home turf in Alaska to Boulder, Colorado. He was fishing, hunting, snowmobiling, playing instruments, and was learning all the time.
I would not be surprised if the simple compression, he could live with, a little delay, and reverb or a Wah, are all that he had a part of. It was just a part of the life he lived. And the intention of the pedal board was to relate it to the music he played, by Jim Elliot, while fishing, hunting, and snowmobiling.
One good thing about the bass tone, is that it does not have a squeak in it. You may pay a little extra for the “Big” driver. But if you are really interested, I would suggest this pedal. Also, Jim Elliot have other uses for these pedals, like using them for his mixing board. I would contact Stu to see if he can give you a lot of information.

Hey, its thanks you for sharing this kind of information. Let me ask you something.. Do you use an amp with the OCD? If you have a fender I recommend the amp recommended to you by Gilmours tech. If you use Fenders check out the fender Plexi drivinhc. I have a lot of money invested in fenders amps so I cant use anything that doesnt sound good. I have a 78 inch fender hiwatt amp with a fender 5160 running it at about 28 to 30 watts with the wah womped in. If you like the OCD but dont like the high gain pedal, try out the Tubedriver. There is a ton of tonepits on the internet about what the hell the Tubedriver is. I have owned a Tubesound for a while and I think its alright. I have tried it out on a fender amp too. I dont think its hard to get an even tone with the tubesounds, but i only own 1.

but i never got too far with it, until i found the pinnacle p100 (and p200), which could deliver the lead tone i was looking for in a fraction of the time. in other words, the 12 is a fantastic tool for quickly getting a powerful lead sound, but i would still need a guitar with lots of volume for it to sound as clean as i wanted it to be. the p100, however, gave me the clean lead tones i had been searching for.
i will try your suggestions on the coil before going for the wah and i dont think i will go for a tube driver, since i dont like it that much. i have a roland jv20 and i was thinking of going for the fender custom shop fender blues special, ive heard a lot of good things about it. would this be a good choice?
i was looking at the blues driver yesterday and the signal level in the main signal path from the rat2 to the bd2 is only 0.05v or 4 times less than the 0.1v level in the signal path from the low gain setting of the rat2 to the amp. i was wondering how you can expect to hear the difference in a guitar amp between 2 pedals? i can imagine that you can hear the difference when you boost a very clean amp with for example a 50 watt tube amp or a 4k amp. but when you already have a tube amp distortion, where the rat2 and bd2 dont boost the gain, how much difference can you hear?
hmmm, i had thought about that too! i believe there is a difference between the buff driver and the tube driver. i think if you have the buff driver, you can hear more of a dark, dark tone from a clean amp but when the amp gets distorted, the buff driver is more in the way with the distortion. the tube driver is more in the way with the clean tones, and with a distorted amp, the buff driver is more in the way with the distortion. its easier to get a dark tone with the buff driver and i was thinking maybe if you could get a little more brightness out of the bd2, you could get a little more of a gilmour sound with the bd2. ive played around with this and i can see what you mean. but i have a feeling i will always use a tube driver with my amp and maybe use just a little bit of a buff driver to boost the volume a little. i will probably just use my reissue rat2 and my bd2 as they are. anyway, i am starting to ramble again! i think the tone of the bd2 is more in the way with the clean tones as well. this is why i havent used it in front of an amp until now. its just too much of a distraction for me to have a pedal in front of my amp and not actually use it and play my guitar. even with a simple 30 watt amp, like the high watt 15w, the amp makes a big difference in tone.
