Q:
Concurrency with a database, is it really that difficult?
Basically, this question is more of a curiosity and a question to myself than anything else. I’m wondering if there’s any particular resources you should have as a database developer to be able to understand concurrency issues and how to implement them in a database that you might face.
A:
For a practical implementation you have to get the following points right:
understand what blocking is
understand locking
be sure to have good documentation
make backups
It’s very, very hard to achieve all those correctly with a practical database system. And it has nothing to do with a database language. I’ve had great success with MySQL, but all those points are wrong.
For concurrency, there is the SQL standard, which is a very good start (the standard is hard to read, but it’s standardised really badly).
I’m personally aiming for the ACID approach (atomicity, consistency, isolation, and durability) and the three T’s (Transactions, Types, and Tools). As a database person you always use some database tool. The theoretical point is that you should know how the tool works internally. You have to be careful that the implementation actually gives you three T’s and that they are implemented correctly. Some of those concepts (like concurrency) can be tricky. E.g. you can have open transactions in the same database. E.g. when I use transactions I want the stored procedure to actually commit. And that means that the database has to be prepared for that. You can’t be prepared to commit a transaction in a transaction.
An example is the transaction flag on a stored procedure. You can start a transaction and then do DML (update, insert or delete) inside that transaction. If the transaction succeeds, you can commit and rollback (if you do a rollback the database is left in the last state it was with a rollback. The stored procedure needs to do

My review for the game:
Elden Ring is a computer role-playing game developed and published by the Japanese company of Snail Games.
The first edition of the game was released on April 30, 2016 in Steam.
They have changed the category of the game from browser-based to a full-fledged PC game.
Elden Ring is also the first browser-based game that has meld into a computer style game.
I think the graphics and user interface is really appealing as well as user-friendly.
One thing I have noticed in the tutorial level, I don’t think in chat sessions you can make the ability called the magic type, like this you can only use it in combat.
A little concern is that the game still needs to develop for unknown threats beyond the tutorial level and the game should have more variety of the different things you can build for the different classes.
