I was hopeful after seeing the growing number of good reviews that this game would be not only refreshing, but the kind of game I’ve been wanting to play since the 12th level of Valkyria Chronicles 2 last year. Unfortunately, I was wrong. This is a mindless MMO-RPG that feels like it was made by the designers of WoW. While the extensive crafting system gives you a good deal of freedom, the singular focus on farming mobs through the addition of a “World Boss” system (which limits your freedom of movement and kills you for standing in one place) basically chews up a lot of what makes that system worthwhile. How is something like this even considered a RPG? The combat feels incredibly weak and the opponents you fight are incredibly easy. This is especially true during the “World Boss” phases where you have to defeat a certain number of monsters in quick succession. The ones who implement the “World Boss” gimmick are in the wrong game. If you want to experience a battle where you have to quickly learn, adapt, and adapt again in a real fight, then this game is not for you. The graphics are passable and the game has a neat, new character creation system, but the game is absolutely dripping with mediocrity. I can only hope this is an isolated case and hopefully the title is redeemed with its expansion.

However, the protagonist will never be able to ascend to the Elden Lordship, so she must follow the path of her predecessor, the previous Elden Lord who now resides in the cosmos above.

Quest of Souls 2 is the latest instalment of the game and it has many similarities to 3-4 other games with similar themes.
