The Cursed Adventure is a gothic adventure roguelike game in which you play Sandra (a witch in 16th century England), who has been cursed with “the Wand of Auctus” and its powers are wreaking havoc on her life. You have been sent on a quest by God to find a recipe to banish this curse. Your mysterious companion is Woo, a fellow witch who has been cursed to become a frog. Through the land of Dunbar (where you live), you must find the ingredients needed to reverse the curse on your companions and free them from their tragic forms.

Thought you forgot about old-school VN adventures? Thought so. Sunrider, the new “collectathon” from the developer of the most famous modern VN-adventure that won multiple awards, including a CEDA prize, is now finally available in English, after a long… wait.

This… is a remake of the old game, with all the features of new game, plus new lines, cutscenes, new character dialogues, re-recorded voices, new musical scores, and new song for the ending credits (we recommend the first version for the best possible experience).

Unlike the old one, this version comes with a full voiceover – and English voice actors – and tons of extras, like character design, concept art, and extensive English and French manual.

The game is fully written in Japanese, and its localization will be available in English, French, German, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, Russian, Korean, Chinese and Japanese, for both Nintendo DSi and 3DS, PlayStation Portable and PlayStation Vita.

There’s a lot of very lowbrow humor in it, but there’s also a lot of really great gags and characters. There’s a joy and a comfort in the game’s puzzles that can’t be expressed just with words…. I was hooked on the story and the puzzles from the beginning, and once I got this far in the game I got caught up in the story. You’ll enjoy this game if you are in the mood for a good old fashioned adventure game with humour, and puzzles.

Keep it light – you need this. It has no cruelty to it and you can jump back in the story at any point without some awful game over. But it is all about the questions you will ask about goodness and evil.

I finished the game last week and while I liked the solutions to the puzzles, I found myself just wanting to watch the story to know what would happen next. I was glad that she was at least supported by and not a background character and though I got the feeling that Sandra has learned a lot this time, I wish I’d seen more. The ending is…but the endings can be a bit vague.

I finally beat this one in about four hours total, which is very good considering this game is a bit complicated. You must complete it in less than 30 minutes to make it fair.
